I would venture to say your fraternity life was short and you are disparately trying to relive your college life. It was one of the first sororities founded. The university also received national recognition for Latino student success. Depending on the campus the girls can change but one thing holds true. Dont know much about them but from what I hear theyve been on the rise for the past few years. They're not as concerned with academics or philanthropy than they are about socializing/partying and sisterhood. I am at a TX college and top tier is Kappa, Theta and Pi Phi. and Kappa Kappa Gamma. Each campus is different. Chi o- "bible beaters"- love The Lord, academics is important, Pi Phis (top)- love their Lilly and pearls with a dash of vodka, while Kappas (top) just love their vodka (and are usually the more 'brunette' house with rich girls), alpha phi - idgaf girls, very popular among the frats, easy DZ..nuff said, tri-delts (tri hards) usually pretty top - your camp counselor kinda gals, zetas (top) the on campus barbies, theta---jocks - so on with that. Pi Beta Phi girls (Pi Phis) are considered by most to be top-tier but also have a reputation as fake and superficial. Many other sororities say they are hot in a fake way, with heavy use of makeup and a bit of a princess complex. Some are kind of crazy. So my assumption is that you are going into rush without knowing (m)any girls in the chapters. The friendships in sororities are unlike anything else and I wouldn't trade them for anything. They are kind notorious for being, um, generous. Possibly because of this, other Greek organizations have highly polarized opinions about Zetas. I feel like the elephant in the room is ADPi. Alpha Omicron Pi - mid tier (strong sisterhood; unique; not academically ambitious; fun; small town girls; down to earth) - Being a sorority with the most chapters around the United States and Canada than any other sorority, their reputations can vary. Lot of truth inthe reputations, except there are a lot of really genuine, nice, friendly Pi Phis who are my friends. If KD is a top-tier and that is the South only. Thetas are known as the pretty girls who are 'sassy yet classy'. Kappa is rich and cute. I went DG, (slu++y/partners) reputation but undeserved, except for 30-40%. PC18 preferred all the sororities above. They are known as the exclusive ones. Signedproud member of DDD. They used to be seen as a step above KD and ADPi, but theyve been slipping with their PCs over the last few years. As for Chi O, yeah they were founded here, but they are the rudest girls. Theta girls are a lot more "fun" and Kappa girls are more "nice" girls. Some consider them the quintessential sorority, in both a good and a bad way. You have nothing to loose, and you'll never know if you could absolutely love it until you try it!! I would say those two are above Tri Delta. The description of my Fraternal organization does not fit my experience in the least. APHI and AXO are very similar. They are not considered nicebut not outright nasty either. Tri-Delt: This years pledge class put DDD from Top Tier to Lower Top Tier. AXID is last. Sorority recruitment at UT is EXTREMELY competitive. Colleges and Universities A-Z TCU. I attend one of the top universities in the country, and arguably the most competitive sorority school in the country. The best way to find out for sure is to participate in recruitment events. dg is in NO WAY on the same level as achio, they have been going down for years and this years PC proved that. Greek life is a fantastic experience where so many memories and bonds are made and stereotypes should not be considered during recruitment. So much wrong about this. I know the same can be said for users on here but I feel like CC isn't as saturated with Greeks.</p> <p>So, I am rushing in August at UT and am worried about some reputations having to do with sororities at UT. Those girls that went AXD are beautiful And would easily have fit in with DG if there was room. Pi Phi is a good chapter. Not to mention some bitter girls who didn't get in just like to spread misinformation to make themselves feel better. However, they do not want to be seen as boring, so they try hard to look like party girls. This is literally obnoxious. With consistently high marks for physical attractiveness, sociability, and popularity, Pi Beta Phis certainly earn the envy of other sororities and the interest of fraternities. I see Chi O as a mix of Theta and Kappa type girls just below PKT. Very beautiful girls (not as beautiful as Zeta but honestly any Zeta would have taken a Theta bid over Zeta). I did and I am happier than ever in my sorority. This is not just for UT but for many other schools.
,UT rush is incredibly competitive due to the high number of legacies and in state students who already have connections with the chapters, plus the number of PNMs who only seem to want one of six chapters. Usually pretty and party a lot but like AXO don't get big 6 because they are missing something(could be looks, outgoing personality, etc.) I mean they must race to the computer to drop anyone who is a hayseed/dork (Kappa), fat/jockish (Theta), ugly/tacky(Tri Delt) and they were 'nice enough' to give me 3 days. Although Zeta Tau Alphas are often committed to philanthropy and successful fundraisers, they have a reputation for only accepting white girls. Those were the "big four" at my school. I hear of strife in the sisterhood between the goody two shoes and wild partiers especially with cocaine. I would love to see all the sororities listed and updated. The tier has everything to do with how picky it can be about members. PNMsDont take advice from a dude whos never even been in a chapter. Our sorority and fraternity community is home to around 60 social sororities and fraternities, each one a member of one of six governing councils, or the Affiliate Leadership Circle. Rest pretty accurate. Very pretty, very smart, very snobbish. Every chapter, every year is different. Even with some of the negative comments (which are expected and should be from every house), I have to say that this is pretty spot on for Texas schools, Bama, and Ole miss (theta exception for rebels). (Hang w/ Chi O and Zeta + KA, Sig Ep, Kappa Sig, Delt, Sigma Chi) She did not attend any of the right camps or go to the most prestigious high schoolbut she ended up where she should have and she is very, very happy!
,Im not a part of Greek life, but I have many friends who are. Most of the girls who were debutantes with me were Pi Phis. Girls who pledge with Delta Gamma are usually very happy when accepted into the fold. Some of those houses still hold clout, but others are slipping. Alpha Chi Omega. ADPi OK, honestly, they were all beautiful blondes, great bodies, looked alike, and were a tad snobby, but not mean or fake. Kappa har frre festpiger og flere YL-piger end Pi Phi og Theta. Boy, the knives seem to be out for the Kappas. AZD may be pretty but is not classy. These chapters are under the authority of one of UT Austin's seven Greek council communities, Interfraternity Council, National Pan-Hellenic Council, Latino Pan-Hellenic Council, Texas Asian Pan-Hellenic Council, Multicultural Greek Council, United Greek Council and University Panhellenic Council. That thing that has changed the most is the KappaKappa Gammas are known for hazing.
,Greek life at UT has been wonderful for my daughter, but she had to go in with an open mind and keep it. Theyve got great mixers. I can see why a Zeta would think they are the best though. They are incredibly happy there and I was shocked frankly that they rushed to begin with. Nice girls tho who are looking for a sisterhood. Good luck!

Most, if not all, sororities have sophomore quotas meaning that they have to accept a certain number of girls who rush their sophomore year. Chi-O and Tri Delt are mid. One thing I have noticed recently at a lot of campuses, is that kappa kappa gamma getting a reputation of being druggies. I have never seen them as top tier at any school I have observed. I know for a fact a lot of Zeta's pledge class from last year hangs with the top frats, including FIJI and RHO and all the other Big Six sororities. Article seems slanted. Alpha Phi girls are considered laid-back and probably the least likely among major sororities to worry about their reputation. Alpha Chi Omega: Used to be almost in the top six. As long as you realize that the average frat guy is not out for meaningful relationships (especially freshman and sophomore years) the better chance you have at not falling prey to the you are so special garbage. We have the highest chapter GPA on our campus and we're beyond passionate about our philanthropy. In fact, today, someone I know is driving out of town to visit a sorority sister from twenty three years ago. is usually a top tier sorority and the girls in it are wonderful.. Every sorority has partiers, so nothing should make aphi stand out in that area. Chi-Os and Kappa Alpha Thetas are top tier sororities at our school. They do have a reputation, like Kappa, of being snobby, but Kappa seems to care more about their 'image' than Theta or Pi Phi. They matter more to the houses with the top GPAs and sometimes even more to the ones that dont have top GPAs but want to move up on that list. Some sororities have close ties to fraternities on the same campus and get together informally and for major events. There is some good advice there about recruitment in general also. Phi Mu is very popular at LSU, but NOT at Arkansas and they even lost their chapter at UA bc they couldn't maintain their numbers. They have found a place to do philanthropy, learn incredible study habits and make life-long friends. Delta Gamma (DGs) is considered a mid-tier sorority almost everywhere across the country. Definitely party girls. No matter what sorority it is you'll find beautiful women inside and out that want to achieve great things. ,No matter what anyone says, being fashionable and polished matter. IMO will join middle tier in the next few years. DG: some cool girls and some weird girls. Dont know whats happening to them, but they arent what they used to be and are going down fast.
